Bike Theft

Updated: Jun 2, 2021

is the #1 crime on Denver Seminary campus, so we ask that you help make it harder for criminals to steal your bike and/or other possessions:

  • Lock your bicycle with a U-lock style bicycle lock. These locks can be defeated, but they make is much harder than a cable lock to steal your bike.

  • Register your bike at the receptionist desk in the admin building. Your registration will provide us a description and record of your bike. You will receive a bicycle registration sticker to identify your bike on campus.

  • If your bike is stolen, report the theft immediately to DenSem Security at 303.961.1184. We will encourage and even assist you if needed to report the theft to the Littleton Police Department.

    • We may also have video footage that would assist your case.

    • Also, when reports are made to LPD, they are more apt to send additional cruiser patrols to our area.

  • If you are a DenSem apartment resident:

    • Rent a spot in our bike shed to store your bike. We have approximately 12 spots now available. Contact Pam Dill at 303.761.2482.

    • Do not store your bicycle in your breezeway. Not only is this a safety issue per our housing policies, but it encourages thieves to come near your apartment where they may be able to steal other items, like packages, from your doorstep.

According to the National Bike Registry, “a four-year student bicyclist faces a 53% (1 in 2) chance of losing their bike to theft.” That may seem unreal, but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. A college campus is an ideal place for a bike thief. We can make our campus less of an attraction for transients and thieves by appropriately locking our bikes and keeping our apartment breezeways clean.

Contact DenSem Security at 303-961-1184 immediately if you see suspicious activity, witness a crime or feel threatened. Call 911 for emergencies, then call seminary security. Remember: “If you see something, say something!”
