Thembi and Her Ministry
Updated: Mar 8, 2021
After completing my Theology Degree at the Kings University, in Texas, I had a strong calling to establish a ministry for single mothers who are raising boys. I then incorporated this ministry in December 2019 in South Africa and came to Denver Seminary in January 2020 to study Counseling Ministry as a key inner healing modality to the hurting world of these single mothers and their sons. I am leading a bible study through Wellspring Church on the curriculum I wrote, which you can find out more about here.
Being a single mom of two boys, I know firsthand what a mammoth task this is. Together with my partner, Jeanette Munsami, who is also a single mother raising two boys, we have juggled multiple roles that placed an enormous demand on us, and often times found ourselves ill-equipped to handle these roles, responsibilities, and challenges that life threw at us. We understand the struggles, hardships, and challenges facing single moms raising boys into men. We also understand the fundamental role mothers play in creating an environment that builds a firm strong foundation for their families. However, statistics prove that fatherlessness creates a void in a boys' life, and if not dealt with, often times leads to social pathology that is tearing up the fabric of our global society. It was on this premise that Single Moms Raising Sons was birthed. Our aim is to provide support, resources and a network that single moms and their sons can draw from.
We have been fortunate to work under the Christian World Outreach (CWO) umbrella to fulfil the task of educating, equipping and empowering single mothers raising son and minister to this forgotten group physically, emotionally and spiritually. CWO will receive donations on our behalf and also coordinate missions trips to South Africa for various spiritual and inner healing programs and Bible studies for single mothers and male mentors for the boys during the Men Moulding Men camps. For more information, please check www.cwomissions.org.
We have also partnered with Charactor Company to offer every boy in the program an opportunity to experience at least two camps each year. Each camp allows the boys to spend quality time with other boys and for adults to speak into their lives while having fun sitting around campfires, being educated on character that will shape their lives into godly men.
