Worship the True King Prayer Guide
Updated: Nov 4, 2020
Take a minute to breathe and quiet your mind. Take notice of anything pulling you away from this moment and imagine yourself setting it to the side. You are joining our Denver Seminary community today in prayer—we are one in the Spirit, and you are not alone. Take a moment to let that wash over you.
Bring yourself to the present. Feel your feet on the ground. Notice your surroundings. Take comfort in knowing that God is both Holy and present with you in this space. We begin by centering on Him and His character.

1. Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your Name
“God, you are utterly unique, infinitely powerful, the source of life, and your life-changing light and love are steadfast, reliable, and true. You are Good. Help me now to glimpse more of the breadth and depth of You, Your Name, Your Holiness, and Your Love.”
What attribute of God feels especially present or life-giving to you right now? Or, what do you need to cling to? Talk with Him about this and spend some time in worship.
Psalm 93:1-2
The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
2. Your Kingdom Come
“You reign in righteousness, goodness, and power. I acknowledge that no earthly ruler will be able to fulfill my deepest longings, to heal the wounds of my neighbors, or right our broken systems. We need your kingdom here, Lord. Even as I work to make things better and resist the temptation to escape, may I find grounding in the saints’ cry: 'Come quickly, Lord Jesus.’”
Spend time praying for your communities—where can you see God bringing His kingdom, and where can you ask for His kingdom to come?
Rev. 22:20
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus
3. Your Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven
“Father, our world is broken. We are confronted with it more and more every day. Neighbor is turning against neighbor, families are divided, countries are growing increasingly suspicious of others, sickness continues to steal away loved ones…
But, You chose to come into this chaos and become one of us. And I trust that you are redeeming all things. Even me.”
Take some time to lift up your own brokenness—where do you need Jesus’ healing touch right now?
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
4. Give us this Day our Daily Bread
“Lord, We do not know what tomorrow brings, give us peace knowing you are sufficient today. Where I am fearful, remind me of your care and protection.
Jesus, what does it look like for me to live in the present, with you? Right now, I stand, knowing you are here with me.”
Take a few minutes to just breathe and glory in being alive! What can you thank Jesus for? How is he sustaining you? What do you see around you that reminds you of his provision?
Luke 12:22-24
Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!
5. Forgive us our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors
“Jesus, your sacrifice on the cross covers all sin and provides forgiveness to anyone who asks. I hold right now onto the reality of my ‘forgiven-ness’ and rehearse my death and resurrection into your life. In you, I am whole—help me love others out of this fullness.”
Remembering back to that felt brokenness, and on the basis of His work and provision, can you open to His forgiveness? Letting any place of shame be laid open to the warmth of Jesus’ love?
Spend time also praying for others whom you may have a hard time showing grace and kindness toward. May they too experience Jesus’ loving presence. Pray for them saying, “Lord, have mercy on…”
Ephesians 1:7-8
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.
Matthew 5:4 "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
6. Lead us not into Temptation but Deliver us from Evil
"God, you are good and want my best. Though the world shouts with promises of antidotes and solutions, You are the only true balm for my pain. Deliver me from the temptation
to numb out,
to idolize mindless pleasure,
to consider all hope lost.
Deliver me from caring only for myself and my own wellbeing.
Deliver me from believing I need to save others.
Teach me true humility and give me compassion toward myself and others."
What things not of God are you being tempted toward right now? Call out for deliverance and ask Jesus to show you His way through.
Psalm 6:3-5
My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?
Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
7. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, Forever and Ever
“God, all is not lost because you are on the throne. Teach my heart to know and feel, to breathe and see, this truth. May my whole being be rooted and grounded in Your very life. You are eternal, and all of humanity is in Your hand.”
Read the following verses from 1 Timothy three times slowly. Let the words wash over you, let each phrase sink in, and let the Spirit, through these words, speak to your heart.
“God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.”
1 Timothy 6:15-16
